SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Purchasing Agent is to establish, measure, develop, and maintain supplier relationships with suppliers and fabricators that deliver components through strategic cost, quality, delivery, environmental, and service positions. Sustain effective supply management policies and procedures appropriate to the company’s quality management system and to ensure effective control over buying authority. Lead, manage, report, and communicate across the organization encouraging cross-functional cooperation with other functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meet and/or exceed all company published KPI’s regarding supply chain management, OTD, Quality, Suppler scorecards, Environmental and Safety.
• Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, environmental and delivery targets.
• Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.
• Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
• Manage and improve an MRP system that addresses all inventory. Gross requirements, demand planning, release schedules.
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
• Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
• Escalate any product discrepancies to suppliers and management as applicable and requested by Quality.
• Seek alternate suppliers to minimize costs and increase profitability.
• Performs all other duties as required to meet the company’s goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• BS in materials management, business management, manufacturing engineer or related discipline (Associate’s Degree may be considered).
• Proficient in reading & understanding mechanical engineering prints i.e. manufacturing method, dimensions, tolerancing, finishes etc.
• 5 years purchasing and/or supply chain management.
• Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment
• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing methods i.e. all types of machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, prototyping, stamping, laser, water jet, plasma, injection molding, finishing etc.
• Accounting basics
• Extensive experience in order fulfillment/processing i.e. RFQ, PO, pack list, invoice, RMA, receipt of goods, raw materials, WIP, FG, shipping terms, open order reports, expected shipment reports, inventory reports & management etc.
• Effective, professional communication is essential.
• Highly organized.
• Self-motivated and energetic.
• Excellent PC skills: Outlook, Word, Excel (reporting), PowerPoint
• Extensive ERP/MRP Software experience (Required) – Sage 100 or equivalent experience a plus.
• eQMS experience required. Arena is a plus.
• ISO 9001 and 14001 experience.
• Ability to negotiate effectively.
