SUMMARY OF POSITION
Precision X-Ray is seeking a Senior Mechanical (CAD) Designer to join the R&D team and assume
electromechanical design, drafting, and documentation responsibilities across our product portfolio
which includes biological irradiators, scientific imaging, and related accessories for preclinical cancer
research. Duties include a broad range of design, drafting, and documentation responsibilities with a
focus upon design for manufacturing, design for service, and value engineering.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mechanical, electromechanical, enclosure, and related subsystem/component design for
Precision’s scientific and industrial X-ray systems. - Design drawings and documentation for product development in collaboration with crossfunctional teams.
- Cost effective design solutions for manufacturability and serviceability.
- Develops, delivers, and manages assigned projects and tasks.
- Supports procurement and management of suppliers and contractors.
- Collaborates effectively with a technical cross-discipline team to develop innovative system
solutions. - Performs all other duties as required to meet the company’s goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Develop drawings and documentation for design, verification, and validation of precision
mechanisms, electromechanical systems, electronic assemblies, enclosures, and injection
molded plastics. - Develops drawings and documentation in conformity with design control, risk management,
PDM, PLM experience in an ISO 9000 or equivalent quality system environment (e.g., ISO
13485). - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, 3D printing, quality control, and other
techniques for optimizing product costs. - User experience with mechanical CAD, FEA, and simulation tools (e.g., Solidworks).
- Develops drawings and documentation with knowledge of reliability, safety, and regulatory
compliance requirements. - Effective communication skills with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
- Travel up to 5% on an annual basis and primarily to support suppliers, contractors, and industry
conferences. - Mechanical Engineering, Associates degree (or related technical degree, or equivalent
experience) with a minimum of 5 years professional experience - Strong background in 3D modeling with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (Solid Works
preferred). - Medical device design control experience preferred
