Overview
XCAM Scientific is a small and rapidly growing technology business which manufactures highly bespoke, custom and low volume digital cameras for scientific and increasingly for space applications.
This role requires a Systems Design Engineer to support the Engineering Director with the design and modification of custom camera systems. The successful candidate must be able to get up to speed quickly, be comfortable working on more than one project simultaneously, and work to short and tight deadlines.
In this role you will be responsible, under the direct supervision of our Engineering Director, for the development and design of solutions for new digital camera systems. You may also be responsible for the modification of products or processes that are already in existence.
For this position we may consider both recent electronics graduates, as well as non-graduates who either have relevant experience or can demonstrate the capability necessary for this role. XCAM Scientific actively supports ongoing learning and offers day-release degree and PhD programmes for suitable candidates, making this an ideal opportunity for those looking to further their academic qualifications whilst gaining cutting-edge industry experience.
Employees at XCAM Scientific have the opportunity to be major contributors to our systems, often being involved in the entire project lifecycle from start to finish. The role includes all aspects of system design from initial concept through to design, build, and test. You will be creative, a strong problem solver, and have excellent attention to detail.
Candidates must be UK passport holders due to the type of contracts XCAM Scientific works on, and must be non-smokers due to the requirement to work in a cleanroom environment.
