LIFA FLIM Featured in Nano-Confinement Fluorescence Study

28th Jan, 2026

Lambert Instruments LIFA Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM) system was recently used in a peer-reviewed study exploring how the fluorescent dye Rhodamine 6G behaves when confined within nanoscale 3D sculptured coatings fabricated via glancing angle deposition (GLAD).

Using frequency-domain FLIM with polarisation control, the researchers quantified nano-confinement–induced changes in:

  • Fluorescence lifetime

  • Molecular orientation

  • Rotational mobility

The results highlight the ability of FLIM to uncover subtle environment- and orientation-dependent photophysical effects, demonstrating its value for characterising advanced nanostructured materials and complex photonic systems.
